28 weeks

Babies are here!!! Born a day early this time.

July 6th, 2009 on my mommy's birthday!!!

Okay, birthing order is as follows;

We lost the first and second pups cuz I was sleeping and mama failed, once again, to take the sacks off.

They're at "Rainbow's Bridge".

Chelsea and I have spent the last three days pretty much glued to each other. I've gotten no sleep since Friday cuz every 2-3 hours I get up and check on her. She was 2 days early last litter so I was ready. Or so I thought! Last night I watched her for a steady half hour before I decided it was safe to sleep a little. No signs of labor. Again, or so I thought! At about 1:30 this morning I got up to check. Two pups, cold, still in their sacks. After all the hours of waiting and watching!!! I can't just not sleep. So, she had a black boy and a golden girl sometime between 11:00ish and 1:30ish. Big healthy pups. Sooooooooooo sad. Soooooooooo mad.

Lord's will.

From now on I'll have to start taking her temperature. That's supposed to be a good indicator.

Then, the happy stuff; over TWO HOURS later...

1) 3:40 a.m. Golden Girl She has a ridge down her back. Maybe some Rodesian Ridgeback

in her lines? KIDDING!

2) 3:53 a.m. Black Boy

3) 4:15 a.m. Black Boy This guy has a white stripe going from his chest to his tummy and white

toes in the back. That's a first.

4) 6:26 a.m. Black Boy

5) 7:46a.m. Golden Boy

All five are happy and healthy. So's Mom. We need to start thinking of nicknames. I'll get some pictures as soon as we all get some sleep. They look exactly like the first litter at this stage. You can click on the link above to see the last gang. Nap time!

Not much to see yet. They're only three days old.

07/19/09 Babies are almost 2 weeks old!!!

They can't see yet but they're starting to cruise around.

Some are starting to get more curly than others.

Stripe boy is giving us a fine example of the webbed foot. That's so he'll be a great swimmer when he gets big. :)

Good friend of mine came up with some nicknames for the gang.

We're goin' with the "Harry Potter" characters.

The little golden girl we'll call "Hermione". "Hermi"

The big guy with the white toes, "Harry".

The golden boy, "Ron".

The 2nd born black boy, "Draco".

Last but not least, the other black boy, "Neville".

07/25/09 Babies are almost 3 weeks old.

I de-wormed them for the first time on Monday. I will continue to do so, every two weeks, until they leave. Their mama too. :)

That's their house until I move them outside in a couple weeks.

I forgot to check to see who was who before I took the first few pictures.

Draco seems most like his mother. He weighed in at 2 1/2 pounds today. I think he's the most curly. You can see what he thinks of getting his picture taken. :)

Harry is the guy with the white. He's still the biggest but only by a couple ounces. He weighed in at a little over 3 pounds. He seems to have more of a Retriever coat, but then, so did Soldier/Bear and look at him now. (Pictured above.)

Apparently girls are more photogenic. hehe

Actually you just can't see the black boys in the house and it was raining out....

This is Hermi, the only girl. She weighed in at just under 3 pounds so she's keepin' up with the bros.

Nevi's pretty curly. He and Ron both weighed in at 3 pounds.

I just woke him up from his nappy and he wasn't real happy about it. :) Wakes up hard kinda' guy.

Next pictures we'll get um' out in the grass. New experience! They'll hate it. :)

07/29/09 Babies are 3 weeks and 2 days old. And, I was right. They hated going outside. :)

I had to coax Draco to go exploring.

Nevi complained most of the time.

If you notice Harry is missing from most of the photos. He's was off doin' stuff. World to be explored!

Harry is definitely the most confident at this point.

It's getting easier to tell Nevi from Draco. Nevi has a long nose. I think he'll look just like Soldier/Bear (pictured above) from the first litter only curlier. Tall and thin too.

Draco has the most curls followed by Nevi in a close second.

It's hard to tell Ron from Hermi, without flippin' um' over, but Ron has a little longer nose. Hermi's head is wider.

I don't know who Harry looks like.

Soooo, I'm guessing Ron will be more on the Poodle side and Hermi on the Retriever side. Neither are as curly as Draco or Nevi.

Harry's not as curly either.

Everybody seems pretty lax at this point. Harry is the only one who seemed to enjoy the excursion. They're still pretty little.

They're getting so big! I de-wormed them for the second time yesterday. All seems well there.

They're all eating dry puppy chow and drinking water already.

Still too little to put outside without supervision.

They're soooooooooo precious. Harry is still the most brave. Then Ron. They're about the same size now too. Nevi and Draco are almost identical but Draco's nose is shorter. Nevi is a little longer in the body too. Nevi was the most interested in grandma while outside. Bit of a sissy boy. Course, Draco climbed into my lap too. After a few minutes they all got more brave.

I'll put them out in the kennel with their mother in a couple days. Just for an hour or two atta' time. They're not much for new experiences. :) Really happy to go back into their box.

They're wet cuz they were helping me hose down the kennel. Nobody seemed to mind. It's going to be a hot day.

I think one of my friends is taking Harry. His new name is Retro.

08/15/09 Babies will be six weeks old in a couple days.

They're living outside now and seem to love it. Not sure if their mother feels the same way...

Hermi is going to live with Jamie and her family up in Detroit Lakes, Mn. Her new name is Molly.

Draco is going to live with John n' Terri n' Tierney n' Logan over in Waunakee, Wi.

We're all de-wormed for the third time.

Ron went to live in New Berlin, Wi. with Darrin and Sue and their gang. His new name is Toby.

Neville is now in Lakeville, Mn. with David and Mona and their gang. They're going to keep his nickname. :)

Introducing, Retro the Wonder Dog! He's the best mistake I've ever made!

Harry/Retro is an "Aki-Poo". First EVER, as far as we know. He and his breed are now registered with the ACHC. American Canine Hybrid Club. Which I didn't know existed until recently. We'll register all our future litters.

These are all Retro the Wonder Dog and their mama. We just lost the poodle last week. She had brain cancer. She had a nice long happy life. She was roughly 11 1/2. We miss you Chelsea baby.
