Babies due November 7, 2008!!!

There's mama two weeks before her due date. I think she's going to have a few dozen. hehe

THE DOODLES HAVE LANDED!!!

Two days early!!!

??? First born was a little black girl. She was born some time before 6:30 a.m. when I got up to check on her mama. Chelsea is new at this and failed to free her from her sack.

This little guy is really Poodle like.

What are we going to nickname these guys? Suggestions welcome!

11/12/08 Babies are one week old today!!

They 're little right now but they'll get pretty big. They're going to need exercise. They are huntin' dogs.

They'll probably grow to be between 45 and 75 pounds.

Unlike my Akitas, I don't think Doodles will adapt to apartment living.

Soooo, unless you're willing to take long walks every day.

I think a big back yard is necessary.

Their eyes should be opening soon.

We'll find out tonight if the little golden girl is spoken for or not. All others are still available.

I can kinda' tell the two goldens apart. The little boy has a darker muzzle and he's longer and thinner.

Good luck telling the black babies apart. The two biggest, a boy and the girl, are the curliest.

I think the littlest guy will look like his mama.

One of my friends came up with some cool nicknames.

Since they were born so close to "Veteran's Day"...

The golden girl will be Glory.

The black girl will be Liberty.

The golden boy will be Trooper.

The rest I can't really tell apart right now. With my Akita pups I can keep track of who was born when. Even the black Akitas have white toes on the front or back or some sort of white marking. Not these guys.

Although, there is a BIG curly black boy and a small curly black boy. The other guy isn't as curly. I'll assign them names as soon as I have it all straightened out. hehe

I should weigh them too. Maybe I'll do that this afternoon.

They seem a little slower to mature than Akita pups. I've had a couple of Akita litters who were eating puppy slop by this age. They couldn't see but they could sure chow. I start the larger litters on puppy food sooner to help out mama. Chelsea seems to be holding her own.

Guess that means the other black boy's nickname is Soldier.

We'll call Liberty, Libby for short. :) Soon as I can tell her apart, from her brothers, without flippin' her over. :)

They got their first de-worming yesterday. They seemed to all take it pretty well.

Libby and Huey are still the biggest and the curliest.

Trooper and Soldier seem to have the straightest coats.

Their faces are really starting to get fuzzy. Soooooo ADORABLE!

They're really starting to crawl around now. Some even up on all fours.

Okay, I just weighed the gang;

Soldier turns out to be the heaviest. Weighing in at just over 2 1/2 pounds. Huey and Libby are both at 2 1/2. Glory/Pebbles and Vic are 2 pounds and Trooper weighs the least at 1 3/4 pounds. He's long and thin. :)

I don't think I've seen anything cuter than this gang!

I'm going to start them on "Purina Puppy Chow" slop this week.

I mix puppy chow with cold water and let it get all soggy. When it gets soggy I squish it all to mush with a folk. When I'm sure there aren't any chunks I add hot water and powdered milk.

By the time they're ready to go to their new homes they'll be eating the puppy chow dry.

Stock up on "Purina Puppy Chow"!

If you want to change to a different food you must do it gradually.
